What is a Learning Disability Evaluation?

A Learning Disability Evaluation is a combination of cognitive and academic testing that assesses areas such as reading, writing, math, oral and language skills.

A Specific learning disorder (often referred to as learning disorder or learning disability) are neurodevelopmental disorders that begins during school-age, although may not be recognized until adulthood. They are characterized by a persistent impairment in at least one of three major areas: reading, written expression, and/or math.

An estimated 5 to 15% of school-age children struggle with a learning disability. An estimated 80% of those with learning disorders have reading disorder in particular (commonly referred to as dyslexia). One-third of people with learning disabilities are estimated to also have attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
