What is an intellectual disability evaluation?

An Intellectual disability evaluation assesses affected areas such as cognitive skills (IQ) and adaptive behavioral skills.  The intellectual and adaptive deficit begins early in the developmental period.  Intellectual disability affects about 1% of the population, and of those about 85% have mild intellectual disability. Those with intellectual disability usually have difficulty with general problems solving and thinking skills, academic skills; as well as difficulty with communication, socialization, daily living skills, etc.  However, sometimes people are not identified until later in life.
